Things that made me happy today:

Shopping at Aldi’s. I don’t usually but I made a quick trip for something specific that a friend had bought.

The person who checked me out (for the big container of pretzels I bought) cheerfully said that that item had sold in a few hours.

While in line (about 8 deep) at the register a tiny toddler girl started playing with me from her seat in the cart basket. Two or three other people chimed in, having fun with this little girl. (Basically dancing, hands in air, and almost touching our pointer fingers to hers.)

While I left the line to check on something I hadn’t seen before, someone else minded my cart and kept my place in line. Unasked.

When I was ready to return the cart, a man walked in from the parking lot, quarter in hand (to “rent” the cart) and cheerfully swapped his quarter for my cart. (So you don’t have to feed the skanky chain lock.) And picked up my pretzels when I dropped them in excitement.

AND a car sped through the parking lot, going really fast, and three women (including me) all reached for each other like moms do in the car to keep the baby from going through the windshield. And then traded a little bit of banter about that driver.

The morale of this story is: Good people shop at Aldi’s. At least once in a while.

You? Any good Aldi stories today?

Keep going.
