Five things that made me happy today:

1. Church. Always. We are still in the fellowship hall as the a/c gets repaired in the sanctuary and we are doing only one service in the summer. It’s such a treat to see everyone in person and to share space with folks I love.

2 After the service was a talk with Jim Schutze and Will Evans about the re-issue of Jim’s book, The Accommodation. It’s an excellent book about race in Dallas, written in the 80s and suppressed in various ways. Still. Copies available at Deep Vellum Books and other sellers.

3. Tomorrow is 7/11. It is a Texas holiday, as far as I know. Go early. Go often. (Free slurpies.) Just don’t go near my house because I don’t want a line. (When the Loehr kids were younger we went to as many as we could find until we were slurpee-satisfied.)

4. Got started on a new puzzle. It’s a little easier than the last two or three. Perfect difficulty for watching the hearings while (a new idea) drinking a beer this week. Perfect pairing.

5. Good God, it is hot. Makes me sleepy, itchy, restless. How can that be? And happy to be alive and living with air conditioning.

And you? I’d love to hear your adventures in happy.

Keep going.
