Things that made me happy today:

Beautiful, fall-like weather. In Dallas, we often circle back into the 90s, but the State Fair started yesterday and sometimes that is a bellwether for two weeks of great pseudo fall.

We tamed the monster datura today. The pool guy has complained that the spent blossoms were falling into the pool and he would have to charge us more, so we trimmed it back to the edge of the pavement. Probably 80% of this giant living thing got machete’d down. I got about 20 of the seed pods but I think they have to mature on the plant to be good to grow BUT I am bringing them to church tomorrow if you want a few (which is more than enough) on the chance that they will grow. Find me.

Girls’ soccer this afternoon. They tied but the last 15 minutes or so (when the other team scored their first goal) ignited everyone and they played fast. Also the ref threw one of the dads out of the game and after a crowd gathered to support the ref. Or the dad.

I started a new puzzle. My puzzle table has been bare for a couple of weeks. I forgot how FABULOUS my front room is about 9 am in the morning. Be still, my soul.

A friend inadvertently gave me the idea to use the monster rusty iron wok that has been sitting in my garage just waiting for inspiration for a year or two. I found a place in the front yard for it to be an arty concave sculpture full of plants. Plants and photos to come.

And you? I’d love to hear what made you happy today.

Keep going.
