Making me happy these days:

This morning I saw a big ball of something making its way across the tile floor, about the size of my thumbnail. It was definitely something self-powered, not being blown by a breeze. I watched for a minute or so, trying to imagine what it might be. The fuzz ball halted for a moment and a tiny spider, about the size of my pinky nail, staggered away. Mother Nature hi-jinks.

Several hours of Saturday NPR listening and jigsaw puzzling, punctuated with long phone calls to friends and a text blizzard from my family to arrange a meeting with an auntie from out of town. So much back and forth.

Finally, “lunch” about 2 pm at City Cafe, a Sunday favorite of mine. We lingered for about an hour and closed the place down (on a Saturday) and they treated us to giant slices of their toffee caramel cake and oven-warm apple pie. Big yum. We, ahem, cleaned the plates.

Followed by another hour or so visit in my church courtyard where there are benches and slides to sit on. And it is super quiet and calm. The “aunties” are Kim Loehr Soto’s college friends who remain staunch supporters for Max and Ruby. We love a visit form them. What a gift they are.

On the way home, we made a brief rest stop at Eric Loehr’s house, conveniently located just a few houses from the corner of our route heading northward. So glad all my grandkids live close by.

Home for a quiet evening in my rearranged living room complete with grow lights for the porch plants. Netflix has started running Six Feet Under, one of my favorite shows from early in the century. Just my speed for this evening.

And you? I’d love to hear what’s making you happy.

Keep going.
