5 things that made me happy today:
1. Attended Oliver’s (the littlest Loehr) opera performance. Four groups of fourth graders write an opera and perform it the last week of school. I can only imagine all the things they learn about team work, creativity, dead lines, performing, etc. Their finished product was fun to see.
2.. The “seniors” (fourth graders flying up to another school) devote an entire year to the silliness of being “seniors” when they’re 10 or 11, capped by a car parade. (See elsewhere for pix.) 3. By noon, the sky was clear, the humidity had blown away, and Dallas produced one of its most gorgeous spring days — a little bit of a cool breeze, fabulous blue sky, horizon to horizon, and the silliest giggle of all — driving around the ring road at The Lamplighter School, waving at all the other students (who had made good bye signs) and shouting. Not once, but twice. Oh my. For 8+ years, I picked up Eric Loehr’s kids there and I got to know many of the teachers — last circle of the ring road. Quite a send off.
4. Dinner with the Loehrs and visiting Myra MacPherson, celebrating an early birthday with an amazing dinner at The Fifth: Fireside Patio and Bar, a relatively new restaurant in Richardson. Wowie!!
5. Followed by birthday cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes. Lordy. Roll me home!
P.S. When my kids were growing up, I never thought they would be living close by as adults. They would move away and have a life of their own, like me and my siblings. But, they both settled within a few miles of me and their father. Even though they’ve been here for 20 years now, I am still so delighted to have them nearby. And their families.
That is all. How about you? What made you happy today.
Keep going.
