5 things that made me happy today:

1. A great family dinner at the Loehr’s house for Oliver’s 11th.

2. Ruby and I saw a young and sassy coyote in the neighborhood as I was driving her to the bus stop in the rain early this morning.

3. Max rescued a young Texas anole from the cats at my place this afternoon. The anole was so scared he had turned the darkest brown I’ve ever seen.

4. Max finally was able to identify the mystery volunteer tree in my yard as a Paper Mulberry. Living next to the Katy Trail means I have lots of volunteers — quite a few pecan trees, at least one elm — all of which I am welcoming in my tiny yard.

5. Max and I had a great lunch at Doce Mesas near my house. They will fix what you ask for whether it is on the menu or not — steak fajitas for Max and a chop salad with broiled chicken and avocado for me. Yum. AND we split a slice of Cinco Leches cake for dessert. The name is completely descriptive. What a good food day!

How about you? What made you happy today? Or, as I told a friend yesterday “5 things that made me happy today” is just cover for “5 times I encountered the divine and it made me dizzy.” I love to hear about your encounters.

Keep going.
