5 things that made me happy today:
1. Sometimes one person (me) has her hand on a lever that can really move mountains. On the first Sunday of each month, First Unitarian Church of Dallas gives away the plate to a non-profit in the community that reflects our principles. This Sunday, it’s my nomination, Our Friends Place. And they will be receiving a few thousand dollars and a wider swath in the community. I love that kind of action. Today I picked up the materials to make a bulletin board for them in our fellowship hall.
2. While I was doing that, a friend called who lost her 48-year-old son a few years ago, to cancer, after a healthy life. We just cried together on the phone. Grief has gifts you might not expect. Deeper friendship is one of them.
3. I’m super happy that I sold two items that have been gathering dust in the Soto garage for a few months, via Facebook marketplace. In about 30 minutes!
4. Max fixed most of dinner. Sophia, Ruby’s friend is staying the night. Mañin Soto and I had a kitchen talk (we lean on the kitchen counter and talk about the meaning of life) — and we wished Kim Loehr Soto was there to gossip with us! There’s happy in that tangle.
5. As soon as I finish writing this, I’m watching the new season of Queer Eye. I’ve been saving it.
How about you? What made you happy today? I love to read your list, no matter how many thing there are!
Keep going.
