ive things that made me happy today:

1. A quick family trip to see the trout lilies at Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary — about 10 miles from my house. We only saw a couple of blooms. (Their season is really short.) But we had a great walk in the sanctuary on a cloudy, pleasant day.

2. In the 80s and 90s, I was a volunteer trail guide at the Heard. It’s a role I can drop right back into at a moment’s notice. I did notice the tree below, with vertical sapsucker holes, which I have never seen. I need a little research to catch up.

3. Followed by a late lunch at @Cafe Brazil in Richardson. They cook from scratch, so it is not a quickie. I got the garden salad with salmon. When they brought it out, there was a piece of salmon the size of my hand, perfectly grilled and seasoned. Oh, boy. So much for the green stuff!!

4. Puttering around the house. Getting some art-y stuff together.

5. It’s a good night for sleeping. It’s still 75 degrees outside. Rain expected. Perfect for windows open and pleasant dreams.

I’d love to hear what made you happy today — or any day.

Keep going.
