5 things that made me happy today:

1. I got my new crown installed. It’s made out of zirconium. Isn’t that impressive? Then some other little things in my mouth, equal in value to about what I paid for my first car. Should be good now for the last 25.

2. I brought home the model for my crown. It will go on the shelf with the model for my implants, for a crown I had made in San Francisco, for Eric’s “before” his braces, for something Kim had done. It’s a little odd but I like looking at all those — plus the technology to make the models has changed in 40 years. Mine today is 3D printed.

3. Ruby and her friend Sophia picked up their school schedules for next year. They are just a little bit excited.

4. There is one particular block on Armstrong Parkway that is almost unbearably beautiful in the late afternoon — enormous trees arch over the entire road, mostly live oaks, so the trunks are black and odd shapes, and the leaves cast a dappled shadow on the roadway. I almost forget I’m supposed to be driving instead of looking.

5. Now that I’ve turned the debate off, I can hear the screech owl back in one of the trees just outside. I love that I live in the city but I have the woods in my backyard. That I have a backyard.

What about you? What made you happy today? I love reading what you have to say.

Keep going.
