FIVE THINGS THAT MADE ME HAPPY TODAY:

1. Our family weekly road trip was abbreviated today — we journeyed to Fair Park for a visit to Dallas Discovery Gardens. It was delightful.

2. It makes me happy that Max is really the Plant Guru. Not only does he know the names of practically every plant, he knows the nicknames, the country of origin, what kind of setting they need to thrive, etc. He’s a walking plant encyclopedia.

3. The Butterfly Garden was really beautiful. Dozens of butterflies and moths flitting everywhere and resting here and there. They have about 100 larvae (whatever the correct term is) in various stages of transformation, including a dozen or so that hatched today.

4. We made it through the gift shop without a single purchase.

5. We had a picnic lunch first in Cottonwood Parks (Richardson) — one of my favorite parks and very sparsely populated. The squirrels walked right up to our table to beg and the Canada geese strolled over but turned up their bills at what we had to offer. (We weren’t prepared for wildlife feeding!)

I’d love to hear what made you happy today!

Keep going.
