Five things that made me happy today:
1. Brunch with friends after church. It’s the first time we’ve been together in a while. It was great.

2. Max’s first daffodil is blooming this morning. There are scattered clumps all over the front bed and they look like they’re all coming soon.

3. My poinsettia (from Whole Foods, grown locally in Texas) is just gorgeous this year. It is a variety called Jingle Bells which I first saw at the Baltimore Arboretum 20 or 30 years ago and always try to find.

4. Mañin Soto and I put together some flat pack furniture this afternoon. We only got one piece in backwards and he discovered it before we added anything — a pair of cubbies for puzzle storage in my front hall. Things are getting super cluttered after two years of Covid and a constant puzzle under way.

5. I watched Out of Africa today for the nth time. One of my favorite films. The scene I thought I remembered was not there. Makes me wonder if I totally imagined it. It would have made a great scene, though. The mind is a wonderful thing.

And you? What made you happy today?

Keep going. Hmm.
