Five things that made me happy today:

1. Max and Ruby and I took Jupiter the dog to the vet today for his annual visit and are happy to report he’s in very good health.

2. The vet sent us to Hirsch’s Meat Market for marrow bones for Jupiter to chew and keep his teeth clean. Wowie zowie. I’ll be buying my occasional meat at this store from now on. Reminds me of Esicar’s Market in Cape Girardeau. On Parker, just west of Central.

3. Ruby asked me to a movie this afternoon so we went to see The Kingsmen. Caution: the movie bears little to no resemblance to the trailer but we enjoyed it anyway. Fairly good acting. Beautiful sets and costumes and effects. The script gets no more than a C-. And the editor could have cut out at least 20 minutes of the fight and unbelievable acrobatic scenes.

4. Had just enough time to take the puzzle that Daniel Polk found for me at a garage sale. This one is easier than the last and looks like fun.

5. My newer Christmas cactus is ramping up slowly to some blooms. Maybe a New Year’s cactus? One of my favorite bloomers, this one was a gift from Amy Broach Loehr.

I’d love to hear what made you happy today!

Keep going.
