Five things that made me happy today:
1. Glorious weather and warm, even for Dallas. It’s still above 70 at 930 pm.
2. The tamale dinner for the staff at church was so great. We fed about 15, including ourselves. I invited another volunteer to come up and help us break down the room (more complicated this year with Covid precautions). A mitzvah that has everyone feeling good and related and loved. Win win win.
3. The 8 pm candlelight service was also delightful. Beautiful music. The sanctuary looks so peaceful by candle light.
4. I rushed in at the last minute and didn’t get a candle to light. The ministers circulate in the sanctuary and light everyone’s candle to pass the light and when I looked up, my minister had picked up a candle from somewhere and lit it and handed it to me. Sweet.
5. Christmas with my two families in the morning. First the Sotos. Then the Loehrs. Filled up.
Bonus: On the drive home, KERA (local NPR station) was playing excerpts from Glen Mitchell’s Annual 24-Hour Christmas Show. A drive down Memory Lane. I miss that man.
You? I’d love to hear.
Keep going.
