Five things that made me happy today:
1. Picked up Sue Benner’s beautiful book of photography, Walking Near Water. What a treat.
2. Stopped with Max at Sunset Bay on White Rock Lake, to feed the ducks and geese, to ogle the pelicans, to see if we could spot the eagles, and generally hang out out doors.
3. Max spotted several nutrias, which I thought were probably shadows, but he finally found two wrestling, rolling around in the marshy water, like baby cats, and convinced me to look in the right direction. They were not baby cats, they were adult nutrias (yes, the plural adds an s). I’ll put a pic below. Kind of ooky and cute at the same time. And invasive and not a good neighbor.
4. The pelicans had moved into the shore, including a space next to the pier which is usually occupied by half a dozen geese. Not today. The geese were honking away, complaining and complaining, to get the pelicans to leave. The pelicans totally ignored them. (White Rock pelicans are Great Whites. They are bigger than the Brown Pelicans seen on the coast. Their feathers are unbelievably white and always spotless.)
5. Time for eggnog and Sue’s new book.
And you? I’d love to hear what made you happy today.
Keep going.
