Five things that made me happy today:

1. Great zoom call with friends from church. We’ve had a couple of misses in the last few weeks with several of the group busy elsewhere, so it was good to touch base again.

2. Max and I made a trip to Fort Worth to see Big Boy 4041, the Union Pacific restored steam engine from WWII. Alas, Big Boy needed to stay away from the crowd due to heavy lightning in the summer storm that whipped up while we were on our way. He’s spending the night in Fort Worth, but we had to head back before he got to the station. (He’s heading further south tomorrow toward Mexia, if you’re a fan.)

We did enjoy the trip, even so. Max is learning to be an accomplished navigator and to give me plenty of time to work my way across several lanes of traffic to the right exit!

3. We had a late lunch at the Korean place close to the house. It’s a buffet. You pick out super fresh ingredients, drop them in a bowl, and they make them into soup. It’s very tasty and very filling. @Yin Tang Takeout, Coit near Park, Plano.

4. Ruby and a friend went to an escape house with the friend’s mother. Just the girls went in to solve the puzzles. They want to go back.

5. Even got some puzzle time in this morning. There is such great light in my front room early in the morning. (Although the early morning light is getting later and later!)

And you? I’d love to hear what made you happy today.

Keep going.
