Five things that made me happy today:

1. Early coffee (730 on a Saturday) with a friend. We talked for nearly two hours. I had barely met this woman when Kim died, yet when I put out a call for help cleaning up the house, she texted me, What’s the address? I’ll be there Saturday. And she was. And she stayed for hours.

2. A class I really love late in the morning. Six or seven of us from around the world (including three whose home base is Moscow), inquiring into long-standing conversations that seem to be self perpetuating in some way. My kind of study.

3. Ruby’s soccer team was short this morning by one girl, so ten of them played thirteen opponents (11 at a time) on a regulation size field. 1–0 in a hard found game. Because of crazy spring weather (when is it not, in Texas?), the team has three games in four days to finish their season. Yikes.

4. Stopped at a store I don’t usually shop in my eternal search for Mexican Coke. The cashier I asked walked me all the way to the shelf (they had remodeled the store since my last trip) and then, treasures in hand, opened the register to check me out. People are funny and kind.

5. Started a new puzzle, from my trading partners. This one’s going to take a while.

I’d love to hear what made you happy today. Your turn!

Keep going.
